A Quick Update 10.26.17 | Enjoying the Run

A Quick Update – Oct 2017

Hey there! So…it’s been a minute… life got a little crazy again and other things had to take priority over this little blog. 🙂 But things are getting back to normal and I want to continue documenting my running journey so here goes nothing. An update about all the things: Family Hubby is working a lot right now because of some staffing issues at work so it’s affecting the whole schedule of life at home. We’re working around it, but, MAN! it’s been hard. Luckily, there’s a light at the end of this tunnel and things should be back to normal-ish by the end of November. I’m so grateful that he works so hard to provide for us, but I’ll...

And we’re back!

After a longer hiatus than I wanted, I’m back to the blog! There were many reasons I opted to take a break, but the main one was that Baby L did not sleep through the night one. single. night. during his first year of life. Every bit of my energy was used up on taking care of things that I needed to do to keep myself and my family healthy (and pay the bills!). So, long story short, here are the important things you’d need to know to about the basics of life since my last post: Baby L finally got tubes in his ears and has slept almost every night since!! This has been life-changing for me because I...

Road Trip Survival Tips with Toddler and Baby | Enjoying the Run

How We Survived a 13-Hour Road Trip With A Toddler and a Baby

In case you missed it, we went to Florida for summer vacation this year. Something I didn’t mention before was that we actually drove to Florida. This road trip was NOT an easy feat with both kids. And we took our 2-door Toyota just to make it really interesting. Somehow, we did manage to survive the trip there and back, but I learned some very valuable lessons. In case anyone else ever has the bright idea to try something as crazy as a 13-hour road trip with 2 kids under 3 years old. Here are some tips to get you through it:   Think carefully when deciding what time to leave for your road trip. Some people would tell you to drive overnight,...

Vacation Photos: St. George Island, FL

It’s Friday! I can’t believe it’s already been 2 weeks since we got home from vacation. Time flies! We had such a great time I wanted to share a few pictures from the week. We started the trip visiting my brother and sister-in-law in Jacksonville. We had a nice couple days visiting the zoo and the beach. We also had a chance to make them some freezer meals because they’re expecting a baby girl this fall. I’m going to be an aunt! So exciting 🙂 The tigers at the zoo have a HUGE habitat, but once a day the zookeepers bring them into this building for a “tiger chat” where you can ask questions and see them up close. It...

Friday Favorites for April 2016 - Enjoying the Run

Taking 2 Babies to the Store + Friday Favorites #15

I’m sorry there aren’t pictures. I ran out of energy. Read on. You’ll forgive me. Oh the irony. Seriously. As soon as you think you’ve got a handle on things…well…you know… So, this evening I decided it would be a good chance to take both babies to the grocery store by myself. Did I do this because my husband wasn’t home? Nope. Did I do it because my mom or sister wouldn’t have jumped at the chance to hang out with at least one of the littles? Nope. Did I do it because the littles tricked me into thinking they would behave like little angels for 2 hours? Yes, that must have been it. Two sets of big blue eyes stared...

How to Take Kids on a Stroller Run in 53 Easy Steps | Enjoying the Run

How to Take Kids on a Stroller Run in 53 Easy Steps

Decide to get some miles in today. Find clean clothes for yourself. Realize you haven’t done the laundry in a week and febreeze your favorite sports bra. Put on running shoes. When I can only find one, have a flashback to toddler wearing them around pretending to be you. Look everywhere in her room and your room for the other shoe. Find it behind the door in the downstairs bathroom. Ask toddler if she needs to potty. Pick out clothes for toddler. Argue with her about why she should wear pants. Hear yourself say, “because I said so.” Mentally cross that phrase off the list of Things my mom said to me that I’ll never say to my kids. Force...

Big Easter Weekend + Last Week’s Workout Recap

Hi! So I’m a day late in posting this, but it’s just been that kind of week already 🙂 It’s 9:00 and both of my children are asleep. This. has. never. happened. So, I’ve poured myself a glass of wine and I’m going to type fast because I’m sure someone will be up in the next 45 minutes. This weekend was awesome! Friday night the grandparents took the kids so J and I could head out to dinner with friends. It was technically a late celebration of my birthday, but really I just needed to get out and do something with grown-ups before going back to work! I already posted this on Instagram, but in case you missed it here’s the one...

Workout Recap | Enjoying the Run

Baby L’s Room + Last Week’s Workout Recap

Happy Monday! How was your weekend? We’ll get to my workout recap from last week, but first… We finally finished decorating Baby L’s room today! Hubby is a huge Cincinnati Reds fan so we went with a baseball/Reds theme since we already have a ton of Reds stuff at our house. Here are a couple pictures: The fan was actually left by the family who lived here before us. How convenient, right?! I officially started following a training plan last Monday. 🙂 I’m working towards a 5K on Memorial Day weekend. I’m trying to get back into it nice and slowly so I don’t injure myself or just burn out between the training schedule and still trying to figure out Baby...

A Post-Partum Blur | Enjoying the Run

A Post-Partum Blur

Hey there! How was your weekend? Ours was pretty great. We were able to relax a little and spend some time outside with friends. The weather was remarkably warm for February and it was so nice to finally see some sunshine here in the Midwest! We’re keeping the conversation casual today, so pull up a chair and grab a cup of coffee (or tea!) and let’s chat. It’s been one month since Little L’s arrival and time has flown! I can’t believe how fast it’s gone and how big he’s gotten in just 4 short weeks. I don’t remember it being that fast with Little E. Maybe it’s because he’s our second so he has to share attention with Little...

Life. On Repeat. | Enjoying the Run

Life is on Repeat Right Now

Deja vu every day. My life is on repeat right now. I’ve been on maternity leave for almost 3 weeks now which means I get to be home with both Littles all day long. It’s been fun, but also exhausting and I find myself saying and thinking the same things all day every day. For my own record (and so I can look back and laugh at this later) I’m just going to start a list of things I hear myself repeating (either out loud or in my head) every. single. day. Things I say: Please don’t pick your nose. Seriously! Stop picking your nose! Don’t eat that. That’s gross. No, you can’t put a chair on top of the trampoline...
