Friday Favorites #18

Hey there! Happy Friday!

How was your week? We’re still dealing with a teething baby here in our household so we aren’t getting a whole lot of sleep, but we’re managing. I don’t remember it being this bad with Little E. She was fussy for a few days and then she had teeth and that was that. Baby L has never slept for longer than a 4-hour stretch. He’s 6 months old. Now, he at least goes back to sleep better than he used to so my nights are a little more restful, but I’m dreaming of a day when he lets me sleep for an entire 8+ hour night!!

I’m nearing the end of week 4 of half marathon training! (Check out weeks 1, 2, and 3.) Runs are getting longer and interval/tempo days are getting tougher. Fingers crossed I can find a way to make all this work!

On to some favorites from the week:

8-Week Challenge

As summer schedules wind down and we get back into the regularity of fall, a few of my friends decided we needed to get back to the basics of wellness. So we’re doing this 8-Week Challenge where we add a new healthy habit each week. This way, we aren’t getting overwhelmed and everyone can encourage each other through the 8 weeks. It’s nothing complicated, but there is a worksheet to go along with each week. I’m pretty excited about it! If you want to join along, just leave me a note in the comments and I’ll email you the password. (You’re not subscribing to anything, you just need a password to unlock that page on my website.) 🙂

Week 2 of our 8-Week Challenge starts Monday!

Our jalapeño plant

I had no idea that one plant could produce so many jalapeños!! I’m not sure what we are going to do with all of them, but I’ve been giving away a ton. I might try a stuffed jalapeño recipe from one of my friends for dinner one night. Stay tuned!

BOB Weather Shield

This thing is amazing! Little E calls it the “bubble” and Baby L is almost guaranteed a nap when we get into a rhythm on a rainy day. Seriously, if you live in a place where rain is common and you don’t mind running in it, get one of these. Rainy days can be tough because my kids need to get outside every day or our house gets crazy. This lets that happen. Totally worth the money! (Just be sure to read the directions when you install it so the littles don’t get too toasty inside 🙂 )

Breakout (Escape Room)

This was so fun! We went with a group of friends as an alternative to just going out to eat or grabbing drinks. Don’t get me wrong, I love food and wine, but it was really fun to work together and exercise some math skills I have used since college to get through this puzzle room.

Summer Infant Play Pen

Not gonna lie, we bought this on a whim when we returned something else and had a gift card to spend. It’s not something I saw and went out with the intention to buy. But now that I have it, I love it! With Little E, I never got one of those plastic gate play pen things because it just seemed like a huge hassle to deal with. But this one is so easy to set up! It’s like one of those camping chairs, complete with the case to carry it in and a strap to just hook it over your shoulder. The major selling point for me is that it has a bottom to it so we can use it on camping trips and any time we’re playing outside.

  1. I should have tried to grow a jalapeño plant. I love fresh jalapeño. You should make some salsa. I have tried growing rs pepper and tomato plant and neither one of them has grown yet.

Salsa is definitely in the plan! My mom is a pro at growing tomatoes so we have a ton of those too. We got a LOT of rain this spring/summer and I think that’s helped our garden a ton.
